Barbara and the ladies in her life group are very busy serving others! They are each involved in a ministry and support each other. As a group they also made a significant contribution to our successful Guinness blanket record attempt.

Barbara volunteers at the Hatfield Childrens’ Homes and is on the committee for the Naledi home. She heads the prayer team for the homes which involves communicating with the house mothers about needs that arise, attending a meeting every fortnight, praying before the Sunday morning services and sending out information about prayer needs.

The Life Group has joined the adopt-a-child initiative where they provide toiletries, birthday and Christmas presents, and other needs for a specific child. Barbara meets regularly with the child and provides support.

Margaret has been a volunteer for SA Cares for Life since 1994. She co-ordinates donations, which entails collecting and administering donations, as well as making up clothing parcels for cluster care families. Margaret also manages the intercessory prayer for the organisation.

When our big blanket was unravelled into the individual blankets, Marie kept all the red wool used to join the blankets and knitted another blue and red blanket for Margaret’s ministry. She is a volunteer with Hospital Ministries and ministers at the Kingswood Frail care on a weekly basis, where she sings with the patients and teaches from the bible.

Carol Alexander (not in the photograph) is a foster mom who regularly has a child under her care.
